Morrison Community Hospital is collaborating with the University of Iowa, OSF, Rockford Memorial, and Mercy Medical Center to begin offering advanced training to their hospital staff and EMS staff.  The new classes and seminars have already begun and are providing MCH staff with the knowledge necessary to become experts in their departments.  Patients will benefit from the small community hospital environment with highly educated, professional staff.

MCH Physician, Dr. Smith, Teaches Southside Students the Risks of Using Tobacco Products


Dr. Denice Smith understands the importance of creating a healthy future for the children in the Morrison area.  Dr. Smith is a Morrison native and is presently a physician at the Morrison Community Hospital Family Care Clinic.  In an effort to promote healthy choices, Dr. Smith recently spoke to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at Southside School about tobacco use.  The presentation is called “Tar Wars” and it is a part of a national effort to prevent young children from using tobacco products.

MCH Staff Teaches Southside Students the Importance of Safety Preparedness

Morrison Community Hospital recently shared the importance of safety preparedness with the 3rd graders at Southside Elementary School.  MCH staff members Jean Reed, CNO, Devin Straight, CNO Assistant, and Butch Nimmick, EMT, spoke to the students about safety.  Along with the presentation, all of the students received safety books and DVDs that discuss a wide variety of safety concerns.

MCH Recognizes National Occupational Therapy Month


Morrison Community Hospital is recognizing April as National Occupational Therapy Month.  MCH offers occupational, physical, and speech rehabilitation services at the hospital on an inpatient and outpatient basis.  Occupational therapy is defined as the therapeutic use of work, self-care, and play activities to increase independent function, enhance development, and preventing disability; it may include adaptation of task or environment to achieve maximum independence and to enhance quality of life.
