MCH Announces Appointment of Betty Steinert to the Board of Directors

Morrison Community Hospital would like to announce the appointment of Betty Steinert to the MCH Board of Directors.  MCH is governed by a nine member board of directors.  Members of the board must reside within the hospital district and serve a three year term.  She will be joining Don Beswick, Paul Beswick, Lon Richey, Luke Vander Bleek, Mark Schuler, Barb Kophamer, Sharon Kelley, and Gary Gibbs. 

Betty Steinert is currently employed as the Administrator of the Whiteside County Economic Development and Enterprise Zone.  She has been married to Gary J. Steinert for 18 years and between the two of them have three children, Roxanne Bailey, Adam Steinert, and Jessica Schudel.  They also have four grandchildren. Betty was born in Dixon but has since lived in Morrison or rural Morrison for more than 36 years.  “I enjoy living and working in Morrison and I am looking forward to helping the hospital meet goals that will improve and create new services for the area.  I’m excited to see how I can help,” said Betty.

One completed project that Betty had been working on was the creation of public transportation for Whiteside County. The county previously did not have a designated transportation system because of the cost, but due to Betty’s research she was able to discover a program that the federal government had setup with the states to help bring money to get such a system started.  Now there are services being provided through Whiteside County Sr. Center and they are even providing rides for students to Sauk Valley College. Having a service that covers the entire county had been a goal of hers since starting her job in 1999.

“I enjoy being with our grandchildren, traveling, and my job too! I do travel a lot for my job but I get to meet a lot of really neat professionals and help create investments and jobs for our area. I also work on projects that benefit the citizens of Whiteside County. The latest project announced is BioPro Rock Falls LLC a new green biomass electric plant that will use corn stover (stalk and corn cobs) to create steam that will in return create electricity for more than 25,000 homes a day.  This project will create 25 new full time jobs and 45 part time jobs for the area.  In the past 11 years I have been able to assist in creating more than $389 million of investments in the area and the creation of 4600 jobs,” said Betty.
