The MCH Auxiliary Spring Tea was held May 7th at the Presbyterian Church in Morrison. The Auxiliary Spring Tea is an annual, fun-filled event where members gather together to socialize, share information, and enjoy refreshments. The tea is also a way to recruit new members for the auxiliary.
Approximately forty women attended the event which consisted of an inspirational book reading by Marge Kontos, music by Doretta Newendyke, and homemade cookies prepared by the MCH Dietary Department. Guest speaker, Chad Haskell, MCH Director of Communications & Fund Development, spoke about the success of the hospital and its bright future. He mentioned the renovations of the specialty clinic and operating room as well as the new flooring being placed on the medical/surgical floor. Chad also explained how the hospitals growing services would positively impact the community and why it is critical for the community to support the hospital.
Currently, the auxiliary is collecting recipes for a cookbook project and preparing for their annual golf outing scheduled for June 20th. The golf outing proceeds benefit the auxiliary scholarship fund. The fund is designated for local graduating students whom are going into the healthcare industry. Last year six students received $500 scholarships.
“Morrison is blessed to have such a great hospital and strong auxiliary. The hospital auxiliary has played an active role in the growth of the hospital since 1956. This group has consistently funded projects for the hospital that have made our hospital a better place. It is an honor to be working along side this group. I can’t help but admire their selflessness. The contributions that they are making today will impact their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Together their efforts help to ensure that the Morrison Community Hospital will be a viable health care option for many years to come,” said Chad Haskell. “We can’t thank them enough.”
