Morrison Community Hospital Recognizes Director of Rehab Services for Achievement of Doctor in Physical Therapy

Morrison Community Hospital is honored to recognize Pedro Becerra for being awarded a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from St. Ambrose University on December 19, 2009.  Dr. Becerra, better known as “Peter”, has been working at Morrison Community Hospital since 1993.  He currently serves as the Director of Rehabilitation Services at MCH.

Peter graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in physical therapy at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1987.  He earned a Masters Degree in Health Science at the University of Indianapolis, IN, in April of 2000.  In 2002, he became a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in orthopedic physical therapy.

“It is no wonder why people choose to travel to Morrison when they need rehabilitation services.  The dedication and commitment that Peter shows towards his patients is admirable.  Peter exemplifies true leadership and loyalty to his profession and because of that the rehabilitation services at MCH are considered to be one of the best in the area.  On behalf of the hospital we would like to congratulate our new doctor on staff, Dr. Becerra,” said Chad Haskell, Director of Communications.

The education of health care professionals is an on-going process that must keep pace with the advancements in science, technology, research and the needs of society.  The transition doctor of physical therapy program is designed to augment the physical therapist’s current knowledge and skills and to enhance their ability to care for patients and clients across a range of practice settings.  The program focuses on enhancing clinical reasoning and promoting evidence-based practice.  Central to its mission is the provision of high quality health care and an improved quality of life for patients and their families.
