The Morrison Daycare and Morrison Preschool recently took field trips to Morrison Community Hospital. The students and MCH staff really enjoyed their visits. The students got to hear about different ways that the hospital helps patients regain their health. Children are often frightened or intimidated when entering a hospital because they either don’t know what to expect or they may remember visiting someone when they were ill. So, it is important for young children to become familiar with hospitals to reduce their anxieties. “The hospital is a place where people go when they are sick and need to get better,” said John Perushek, CEO. “Also, if any of you decide that you want to be a doctor or a nurse someday, you can come back to the hospital and we will help you,” he told the students. The daycare children visited the residents at the Four Season’s Living Center. The residents were pleasantly surprised and admired the children as they were singing songs to them. At the end of the singing performance, the children gave hugs to the residents. The preschool students were given a tour of the entire hospital. They were able to visit radiology, laboratory, emergency room, medical/surgical floor, Four Season’s Living Center, rehab services, and the Family Care Clinic. The students were amazed while looking at x-rays of hands and feet. One of their favorite parts of the whole tour was getting to stand inside of the ambulance! |
